CHARLESTON -- Quarterback Ty Storey was glad to sign a financial aid agreement with the University of Arkansas so he could put all of his focus on his final semester of high school.
“It’s definitely good to have it out of the way,” Storey said. “I wanted to get it out of the way. Now I can focus on this year.”

Junior Joel Brackett and sophomore Joe Britton are the front-runners for the starting quarterback spot midway through the second week of preseason workouts, Rogers Heritage coach Perry Escalante said.

Rogers Heritage volleyball coach Sarah Miser has a different outlook than she did less than a week ago heading into Thursday's Cancer Challenge Jamboree at Bentonville.
That's because outside hitter Lindsay Glynn has been sidelined for an undetermined period with a sore right foot. The 5-foot-6 junior had earned a spot in the starting lineup with her steady attack, but now she's walking around with a boot on her right foot.

PEARCY — A Lake Hamilton football player collapsed from a head injury during football practice Thursday night and was airlifted to Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock as precaution, Lake Hamilton coach Jerry Clay said.
The player collapsed while running drills and complained of “feeling woozy,” Clay said. Paramedics were then called to the scene, working with the staff to prepare for the LifeNet helicopter.
Clay declined to give the player’s name over the phone, a call made just before the helicopter arrived.

Rogers Heritage assistant football coach Cam Prock began his 36th year of coaching this fall, but he's experiencing a first. Prock, long known for his work with offense will coach defensive backs for the War Eagles this season.
